Multiple users using one assembly
Multiple users using one assembly
(OP)
I'm working in a setting where there are multiple users, working under one main assembly structure. The structure has multiple parts and sub-assemblies and each user will obtain their own sub-assembly structure. The data is stored in one folder; however, traditional file management cannot be used.
Currently, one person (userA) is working on the main assembly, while other users (usersB-F; 6 total users) get their own sub-assembly to work on. If userB opens their sub-assembly, works on designing or modeling and then saves, userA could get their over-written or over-writes userB's work.
What I'm looking for is a setting in CATIA R24 GA that could improve multiple users using one assembly structure. A way to protect each user when saving, so CATIA doesn't save over but let's other users know if a part or assembly was saved. Also, if a part or assembly was saved, allow another user to update their portion of the assembly while still in the active assembly.
Thanks,
Jason

RE: Multiple users using one assembly
There are serveral systems out there and they range greatly in price from "one arm" to "your first born child"
do some research and see what one works best for your scenario and build a business case. see if your superiors can work it into the budget.
RE: Multiple users using one assembly
I did a little poking around and CATIA has an internal PLM: ENOVIA. Is that the same thing as a PLM system? Does that require a PLM system like smartteam or could I set something "fake" up?
