Gravity load on an explicit Model
Gravity load on an explicit Model
(OP)
Hello
I am trying to model a bridge sliding model on abaqus explicit. But firstly i am trying to complete a simple model in order to understand the model definitions better. Basicly i have a beam and i have a box on the top of the beam which has a weight. I am defining a frictional contact surface on the contact area and loads are weight of the beam and the box and one pulling concentrated load to the top block.
My problem is when i use abaqus stndart everything is okay but i need to use abaqus explicit but when i do that gravity force is calculated as dynamic force and my structure has a vibration. I dont want to have that. I tried to create field and i tried to make a co-simulation but i could not make it work. So is there any sugggestions about this
Thanks
Ozan

RE: Gravity load on an explicit Model
You can solve the equation of motion using either the implicit (Abaqus/Standard) or the explicit (Abaqus/Explicit) solver and, theoretically, you *must* get the exact same solution. Practically, there are technical/logistical challenges that force you to choose either one for a model/application. Both solvers have their pros and cons in given situations and without having a sound understanding of the structural dynamics AND these solvers, it is terribly easy wasting a ton of resources (time/money/compute power/tokens).
Coming to the specific issue of 'vibration' in Abaqus/Explicit: What is the time history (i.e., amplitude) of the gravity load?
