Shear lag factor U for 2 bolts in line

Shear lag factor U for 2 bolts in line

(OP)
Dear all,

AISC 9th edition (table D3.1) used to have a value for U =0.75, when all shape connects by 2 bolts in line. In 14th edition I don't see any value for that ( or I am missing something).
My question is, when a members connects by 2 bolts in line, what would be the value for "U". Or, do I have to calculate U by the formula U = 1- x/L ?
Please help.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Shear lag factor U for 2 bolts in line

Use 1-xbar/L. Note that U need not be less than the ratio of the gross area of the connected element (e.g. the leg of the angle that the bolt connects to) to the member gross area.
