(OP)
hello everbody,
i have a question regarding lean solvent pumps in MDEA system .why do we need demin water injection in the pump sealant??if its for cooling why we do not use cooling water system??kindly note that the demin water outlet from the pump ends in waste water system.
pump type is Horizontal Radially Split Multistage Barrel Pump.

RE: lean solvent pump

This question might be better posted in the pumps section.

The demin water is utilized for a type of seal flush to keep the seal faces clean. Although I am not sure why this is necessary for lean MDEA.

You would not use cooling water as it could leak into the MDEA system. The cooling water has too many chemicals and trace elements in its composition.

You need to find out what type seal and seal plan has been used.

I would not have chosen this plan, as you now have to address the potential of MDEA in your wastewater system and this is not easily addressed.

RE: lean solvent pump

After a little research I have found that there is the potential for solids buildup in the amine solution that can damage the pump seal faces.

Your plan 62 (I am guessing) is one way to do it. But to me the MDEA leakage is a deal killer.

See this thread for other sealing methods:
