Circumferential constraint in ABAQUS explicit

Circumferential constraint in ABAQUS explicit

Circumferential constraint in ABAQUS explicit

(OP)
Hello all,

I am working with ABAQUS explicit and want to constrain the circumferential displacement of a number of nodes which were positioned on the perimeter of a ring with respect to the center of the ring. I know how to apply that in ABAQUS standard. It can be applied using kinematic coupling in ABAQUS standard but this instruction has not been implemented for ABAQUS explicit. I am wondering how I can do that in ABAQUS explicit.

Thanks in advance,
Hasan

Hi IceBreakerSours,

Thank you for your reply. This way I should give the coordinates of all nodes in the new cylindrical coordinate system. Yes?

Thanks,
hasan

RE: Circumferential constraint in ABAQUS explicit

Hi,

I'm not quite sure you followed IceBreakerSours suggestion.

In the assembly module select Tools -> Datum -> CSYS from the menu at the top of the screen. Define a cylindrical CSYS at the center of your ring using one of the three given options. You can then specify displacement constraints relative to this cylindrical CSYS. Constraining your node set in UY should enforce a circumferential constraint.

Good luck,
Dave
