Imposing Radial Gravity in Abaqus

Imposing Radial Gravity in Abaqus

(OP)
Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to build a model that imposes radial gravity in an axisymmetric model and I can't seem to find a way around the ABAQUS software limitations. Has anyone else been able to successfully impose radial gravity? (To clarify, I want to have gravity not point in the universal component 2 direction (down) but rather towards the origin (0,0,0).

I am specifically trying to impose gravity on a simplified "planet" and track the deformation as I change the temperature dependent material properties. If I can impose radial gravity it should be a fairly simple model to construct.

I think that I may need to use a DLOAD routine but I have never had to write/edit that subroutine before and I am not sure how to go about editing it for this purpose. I have spent a significant amount of time looking through the documentation for Abaqus, but have not been able to find out anything helpful. I tried moving to an 3D model where I modeled a quarter of the planet and imposed axisymmetric boundaries but also, had no success with that. (I had singularities and I don't think the gravity was correctly oriented anyway).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
