NX 9 FKEYS

NX 9 FKEYS

NX 9 FKEYS

(OP)
I cannot figure out how to re-assign the F1 key in NX 9. I have F-keys set up a certain way at work, and want to set them up the same way at home for personal use. F1 is set as UG_HELP_ON_CONTEXT since it is a global fkey. It shows up with a little yellow lock (see attached: http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=0...) and I cannot change it to anything else. For instance, I'd like F1 to be used for extrude. I can make F2 extrude, but then when I go to work and it is F1 it becomes confusing. It also throws off all my other F-keys becasue F1 is extrude, F2 is revolve, etc... all the way to F12.

(changing my work shortcuts is not allowed nor is it preferred since I am very used to them).

RE: NX 9 FKEYS

It appears that the 'F1' key is hardcoded and cannot be changed.

RE: NX 9 FKEYS

I think it can be changed by editing the .men files.
Look in the UGII\menus folder there will be a ug_main.men
If you search for the F1 for help on context, you can reassign it to something else. Then you can add your accelerator for extrude.
keep in mind if you update NX any changes you make will be overwritten.
Best way is to make your own men file to modify but I can't remember the syntax off the top of my head.

Editing the .men file only changes the menu, it doesnt un-bind the F1 key from help in NX.

I've tried reassigning F1 to a different key via sharpkeys and then re-mapping that to extrude (does it in the registry), and it works. The only problem is then I have F1 reassigned globally and in other programs I use F1 as F1.

Since I have F1 assigned to extrude at work, there has to be a way to do it. It seems like a very annoying thing of Siemens to have decided to hardcode. Who really uses help anyway?

RE: NX 9 FKEYS

Does UGII_FKEY_DYNAMICS=1 still work in NX9 ?
