copy-paste user settings

(OP)
Hi,
i have faced a problem in measure command. Suddenly, it didn't work. So, as a shortcut, we copy all the user settings from my colleague and paste in my system. Problem got solved. But, my short cuts which i assigned in customization have gone. So, i need to assign all those short cuts once again. So, if i exactly know the name and location of customization user setting, i can copy the particular file and paste in my folder so that i can avoid extra work of assigning all short cuts once again.
Kindly suggest a solution.

Suresh

RE: copy-paste user settings

Hi,

Please make a note of the location.

C:\Users\your login id\AppData\Local\CATSettings.

The App data folder might be hidden by default. You will have to set "show hidden files and folders" to view under "organise...folder and search options....view...show hidden files and folders.

You will have to copy the CATsettings folder form this and take a back up. paste the .CATsettings when required into this folder before launching the application.

Hi Sudhakaran,
Thanks for the reply.
I have already found the location of the cat setting files.
My query is how to find out the exact cat setting file for customization.
In my name, there is 101 cat settings are there. I need the particular name of the setting in which shortcuts are stored.

RE: copy-paste user settings

you can create a new shortcut, close catia and check which file was modified.

RE: copy-paste user settings

check online doc about reference setting and user settings in your environment, that could also help for setting management.

Hi ferdo & itsmyjob,
Thanks for the reply.
I have checked the latest CATSetting once I assigned new user alias and save. i found that the two below setting are latest.
FrameGeneral.CATSetting
FrameUserAliases.CATSetting
Then, I copied this settings and paste it in another person system and it is working fine with all shortcuts which I assigned in my system.
This solution is exactly I want.
Thanks for the ideas.
Suresh
