Ordinate of Response Spectrum Functions (RSF)
Ordinate of Response Spectrum Functions (RSF)
(OP)
Dear All,
I'd like to know what the ordinate of RSF defines in seismic calculations, as per the codes it is depicted that it is average of quake motions multiplied with gravity(g). But it is quite unclear what value is exactly taken as an average from the quake motions (acceleration, speed, displacement, magnitude etc.)?
Taking it one step further, what about if I want to derive my own response spectrum for the specified 5 set of different quake motions, which method should I follow?
Regards,

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough that I want to either change it or adopt it.
The greatest trick that bond stress ever pulled was convincing the world it didn't exist.
