Reducer in blower inlet

Reducer in blower inlet

Reducer in blower inlet

Why is the reducer in a blower inlet line eccentric with bottom side flat?

RE: Reducer in blower inlet

Not enough information.
What else can you tell us?

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

RE: Reducer in blower inlet

If the incoming air is moist a top flat or concentric reducer could result in a small pool of liquid collecting in the suction line (if the inlet piping comes from the top).

Thanks Gator. I was looking for something like this. But what if the suction line comes from bottom? Any way the water is going to be collected in the bottom side of the pipe as water is heavier than air right..

< But what if the suction line comes from bottom? >

Are you saying the suction flange on the blower is on the bottom of the blower pointed down? Then there is no need to use an eccentric reducer to adjust for the differences in line sizes.

RE: Reducer in blower inlet

"Horizontal reducers installed in the inlet piping to compressors or blowers shall be eccentric with the flat side on the bottom of the pipe to prevent the accumulation of any liquids."

Kind of depends on the application. If you have a wet gas, you would be concerned about this and may have drains on the line as well.

If you are blowing air, it is not a concern.
