Using Expressions in Manufaturing

Using Expressions in Manufaturing

Using Expressions in Manufaturing

(OP)
Hi Im using NX7.5, my question is

Can you set a MCS with is parametric and can be automatically updated from a datum where the orientation changes due repositioning relative a parametric sketch.
I need to be able to position a series of 20 blocks around what would be a nominal diameter. each block will have a sketch with 3 points relative to the target radius. this radial position of the boss need to adaptable to change relative a scanned bore and any distortion compensated for using the 3 point arc at each position. Each block has a common datum for the MCS and this MCS need to be relative the block as it is repositioned to the bore distortion.

Is this possible to have a MCS that is adaptive?

Thanks for any advise

Happy Xmas

RE: Using Expressions in Manufaturing

I know with NX 8, you can associate an MCS relative to geometry or sketches. That way if your geometry changes or if it moves, your mcs will move with it. You can also define multiple MCS's in your file as well which in the machining world would be your G54 work offsets.

RE: Using Expressions in Manufaturing

As long as the MCS is defined by selecting geometry, it should be associative and move or rotate when the selected geometry moves. So if you define the MCS by picking the 3 points, it should be associative. You could create a datum CSYS at each location and pick that.

Of course, if you position the MCS by dynamically draging and rotating to a screen position, it is fixed because there is no gemoetry to be asociative to.
