Reservoir Leak Check

Reservoir Leak Check

Reservoir Leak Check

(OP)
Hi,

I am involved in a project wth a large reservoir in a waste treatment facility. We are in the construction phase, and would like to know methods to test water tightness of the reservoir since time is an issue.

We are considering filling the reservoir with water up to a certain level and monitor the losses... if we detect a certain leak, we would let the water settle just below the leak point, to determine were the leak is.

Any other methods_ thankyou

Regards

Check out ACI 350.1 Specification for Tightness Testing of Environmental Engineering Concrete Containment Structures.

Time of the essence, on a construction project? The dickens you say.

Stick to the referenced code. There is no need to invent a method as this is a standard practice for a large reservoir that has a significant design life.

First of all thank you for your helpful answers, two questions please>

1. Were can I find the part i need from the code? I am used to eurocode so I don't have the code suggested.
*Not suggesting piracy to be clear

2. Out of curiosity, can I please know the meaning of

Never heard it, and google didnt resolve it.

Thank you!

RE: Reservoir Leak Check

Question: A method of lowering water "to the leak" is wishful thinking. Suppose the liner is just higher hydraulic conductivity than planned. No way to lower to the leak and "find the leak". I'd be lab testing typical samples of that liner as you go to prove the design is being followed.

RE: Reservoir Leak Check

Dickens is a reference to the famous author Charles Dickens, I believe.

Phrase is a sarcastic comment, like Oh Really?

Aaa ok :) now I get the sarcastic comment. Thank you! I guess time is always an issue.

Will try looking at the other post, and refer to Bs and EC..
