Can anyone recommend a good Instruction/Reference text on ANSYS Workbench?

RE: Instuction/Reference Text on ANSYS Workbench

Hi,

I find the tutorials and training material available in the Ansys customer portal to be very good. And the software documentation of course. The verification manual and accompanying files is a good source for inspiration as well. If you are totally new to Ansys, I would recommend you to take a look at Mechanical APDL as well. It is in my opinion necessary to know the basics of to help you debug any problems with contacts or convergence issues. Personally I still prefer Mechanical APDL, but I love Ansys SpaceClaim for modelling and I quite like some features of Workbench for both pre- and postprocessing. But, I have yet to complete a full analysis without using APDL in any way, apart from some small test models.

Thanks petb! What is Mechanical APDL? I've been away from ANSYS Workbench for a couple of years.

RE: Instuction/Reference Text on ANSYS Workbench

Hi tunalover,

Mechanical APDL is the new name for the old Ansys. It refers to the old Tcl/Tk-gui with the XOX geometry kernel. APDL is Anysys Parametric Design Language, the fortranesque scripting language for the ansys solver. Workbench writes to the solver using APDL.

Hope this helps.
