Extract Data From Abaqus

Extract Data From Abaqus

(OP)
hi all, I'm using Abaqus 6.13 for a simulation of an insufflated balloon. I need to extract data from the simulation in Matlab or in Excel. I have a balloon wich deforms once insufflated with air under pressure. I need to calculate the area of the top surface of the insufflated balloon which exceeds a displacement threshold of 2 mm (in order to have an idea of the contact surface between the balloon and another component, not included in my simulation). Can you help me or give me advises?
Thank you so much

RE: Extract Data From Abaqus

The Scripting Examples and Reference Manual have some examples of extracting data using Python if you need to do it multiple times. If you're only doing it once or twice (or relatively infrequently), check out the report functionality in CAE.

RE: Extract Data From Abaqus

If you are using shells you could write the deformed coordinates to the DAT file. I then converted this data into STL format which can be read by any CAD program. Once in CAD remove all surfaces that are not past your 2mm threshold. Then have the CAD program calculate the area. Conversely, in Matlab you could accomplish these steps as well. I hope this helps.
