CATIA Feature Group

CATIA Feature Group

(OP)
Hello,

Past a few months using CATIA, from NX, i have miss from one functionality from NX. It was the feature group. Is this possible to use the feature group (or something similar), in catia, to organize features from bodies?
I am using multiple bodies, but it's not so powerfull as feature group in NX.

For the those who don't know what is feature group in NX, please see the next video.

See it from 1:10 minutes

Thanks

RE: CATIA Feature Group

look for User Defined Features (UDF) , or PowerCopies...

RE: CATIA Feature Group

with power copy you cannot organize features. feature group in NX similar to geometrical sets in Catia except one thing.
with feature group in NX you can collect any feature that belongs to surface or solid body and put it in one folder. in GSD you can move features from one geometrical set to another. the main purpose of feature group is to have short spec tree.

That's right. In Catia i haven't found a way to put features from solids bodies in a geometrical set. Is there anything similar to geometrical set, but applied to bodies?

In NX is possible to work only in one body, and it's features located in multiple features group. I would like to do the same thing in catia.

RE: CATIA Feature Group

I typically do 95% of my work in GSD and organize in geo sets. All of my sketches are also located in the appropriate geo sets and never in a body. The last 5% is creating watertight solid body from surfaces and putting some dressup features on the body. It doesn't completely address your desire but it's what works for me. I hope this helps.

GDS and organizing sets also work fine for me. plus using patterns helps to keep spec tree as short as possible.
