Concrete slab edge - Masonry

Concrete slab edge - Masonry

Concrete slab edge - Masonry

(OP)
All,

What is your company's standard detail of laterally bracing a non-load bearing masonry wall at the edge of a concrete slab?

My current firm has a detail with a 1" gap and an angle connecting the inside face of the CMU to an embed in the slab soffit.
My old firm had a detail with a #3 bar in a grouted sleeve connecting the masonry to the slab (this was not a detail that allowed for slab deflection, however, we never had any issues with the slab or masonry).

RE: Concrete slab edge - Masonry

I believe there are one or two good one's in here: Link. Semi-official as they're from some masonry folks.

The greatest trick that bond stress ever pulled was convincing the world it didn't exist.

Look at Blok-Lok BL anchors. I often see a 'diy' version of this with angles and flat plate specified. I'm always curious with the top anchors how they are able to get anchors, grout, reinf etc. into this space that is tight to a slab - I have a feeling it's not as pretty as the drawings show.

RE: Concrete slab edge - Masonry

Yeah, these Blok-Loks look pretty slick: Link
