Metal Deck Diaphragm

Metal Deck Diaphragm

Metal Deck Diaphragm

(OP)
I am trying to determine a practical code acceptable approach to laterally distribute the shear into the vertical resisting elements from a semi- rigid metal roof deck diaphragm without concrete (one story building). I have a couple questions with this:

97 UBC (or other codes) do not classify a semi rigid diaphragm, therefore, is it correct per code to classify the diaphragm infinitely flexible or rigid to horizontally distribute shears based on the diaphragm vs story drift ratio?

Is there any published books or papers metal roof decks with out concrete? (there seems to be alot with wood diaphragms)

Any practical design procedures/tips for metal roof deck diapragms?  Is the envelope solution the answer or is there a simplier way?

Thanks

RE: Metal Deck Diaphragm

If you're not familiar with the Diaphragm Design Manual published by the Steel Deck Institute, that would good place to start. (http://www/sdi.org)
