Section force and rebar strain
Section force and rebar strain
(OP)
Dear all,
I am modeling a beam element to check the SF obtained for different position of the reference line.
First I have the reference line of the CS in the centroid. If I apply a longitudinal force, I obtain SF1 egual to the force corresponding to yield stress. If I define the reference line in a position different than the centroid the maximum SF1 obtained is smaller (which I agree) but the analysis stops even if the stresses have not reached yield limit.
I cannot find a reason for that so if you have any advice it will be very much appreciated.
Another issue for me is the reinforcement in a concrete slab defined as a shell. I define the rebars in the section property of the shell elements representing the concrete slab. Is it possible to obtain the stresses and strain in the rebars?
Thank you,

RE: Section force and rebar strain
I have managed the rebar issue but if you have any information regarding SF, please help
Thanks
RE: Section force and rebar strain
Referring to stress and strain of reinforcement in shell elements. After I toggle on to INCLUDE the rebar in the FIELD OUTPUT I have two extra SP in the output graph. My shell has 13 integration points. Before including rebar stress in the FIELD OUTPUT I was able to see the stresses at SP1 and SP13. After including rebar stress in the FIELD OUTPUT I ger SP1, SP13 , SP14 and SP15. In the manual is said that one is for middle plane and one is for reinforcement.
Please help regarding the meaning of these SP14 and SP15.
Thank you
