How can i got from drafting to modeling

How can i got from drafting to modeling

(OP)
sometimes i need to work in drafting first , I'm insert and image and go on this image
after i finished i want to draw 3D model , but when i start modeling i'm not found it
only solution is to swn it to autocad and import it in modeling
is there a faster solution ?

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

do you have sample part or snap shot for this

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

What version of NX are you running?

NX 8

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

check might your layers off in modeling

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

So you are creating curves on the face of the drawing that you now want to move into the modeling application?

If you stick with NX 8, I think your best (free) bet is exporting a CGM of the drawing and importing it in modeling (similar to your current strategy).

If you upgrade to a studio license, or to NX 9, you can import the image into the modeling application and create all the curves there.

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

Cruves created while in Drafting are created 'view dependent'. While in Drafting try editing them so that they are no longer view dependent. But be warned, if you do this will, by definition, now show up in all the Drawing views.

Before posting, I tried to create some curves on the drawing sheet then use View dependent edit to convert them to model curves. However, the option was greyed out. It appears that curves on the drawing sheet itself are not candidates for that operation...

Yes, but curves created in an Expanded view are candidates.

Does the same apply to drafting sketch curves? If so, perhaps an empty drawing view can be created over the imported raster image, make the view active for sketching, create the curves 'over' the raster image, and finally convert them to model curves.

I don't know, even if that works, the export/import route may be easier...

Thanks all
its seems that i can not do that , is I am right?

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

You can also import Raster Image in modeling side: View -> Visualization -> Raster Image
Then create you curves on the modeling side.

You can also import Raster Image in modeling side: View -> Visualization -> Raster Image

IF you have a studio visualization license (or NX 9) as mentioned above.

RE: How can i got from drafting to modeling

Cowski, 1) you need to select the view, pick in the Part navigator, not the graphics. 2) Sketch curves can't be selected, (- for some reason) but "Basic curves" can.

Toost,
Thanks, I learned something new!

Actually, you can select from the graphics window, you must click on the dashed rectangle representing the sheet. Initially, I tried to select the sheet view by clicking within the sheet, which doesn't work.
