NX 9 Drafting - Expand in and out dimensions

NX 9 Drafting - Expand in and out dimensions

NX 9 Drafting - Expand in and out dimensions

(OP)
Today we switched over to NX 9 from NX 6 and there seems to be one issue that sticks out - In previous versions of NX we were able to expand into a view to pick Object 1 of a dimension from a surface or plane that is outside of the view boundary and then expand back out while still in the dimension to pick Object 2 which is within the view boundary. This does not seem to be possible in NX 9. Is there another way to pick surfaces that are outside of view boundaries to dimension to?

Thanks,

Geoff S.

RE: NX 9 Drafting - Expand in and out dimensions

Expand the view, start the dimension command, select object 1, Menu -> View -> Operation -> uncheck the 'expand' option, select object 2, and place the dimension.

Thank you so much! I was tearing my hair out for a while there trying to figure it out. Not sure why they removed the option to expand out of a view with a simple right click on the border when the dimension menu is active.
