Starting Out With NX Motion Simulation and Cannot Animate

Starting Out With NX Motion Simulation and Cannot Animate

(OP)
Hi Eng-Tips,

First time posting here and a relatively new-comer to NX, so I apologize in advance for any newbie mistakes.

I'm trying to create an animation using NX and my company had the motion simulation plug-in so I thought it would be the perfect tool to animate my CAD files.

I wanted to start real simple so I started with a blank file, created a rectangular box, cut a cylindrical extrusion out of it, made a cylinder rod, and want to just make the box rotate around the rod (kind of like a clock I guess?)

Problem is, while I seem to be making the links and joints ok (I think), and I make a solution, I cannot get the animation to work. It remains greyed out. Sometimes too I get a pop-up error saying "Only one simulation can be run form one directory." and "Failed to export RMD file." I have no idea what these could mean and how to resolve them.

- I have two links, the rod and the box
- I have one joint, created by clicking on the circular rim of the box where the rod and box meets (there is a small offset so they aren't touching).

Any help would be great!
