solid elements meshing transitions FEMAP11
(OP)
Hello! i want to mesh with solids elements. This case is a cylinder. i want a very fine Hex Mesh on its bottom and a coarse Hex mesh on its top. and i want a TET transition for the middle part. Its one solid with two slices (picture attached). I do not how to do this! thanks for your help!

RE: solid elements meshing transitions FEMAP11
If you run FEMAP with NX NASTRAN then forget to use Tetraedral elements, better mesh in the middle with CHEXA solid elements: the key, glue surface-to-surface contact. Not need to have coincident nodes, Glue is a simple and effective method to join meshes which are dissimilar. It correctly transfers displacement and loads resulting in an accurate strain and stress condition at the interface. The grid points on glued edges and surfaces do not need to be coincident.
Glue Surface-to-Surface creates stiff springs or a weld like connection to prevent relative motion in all directions.
Mesh in the middle with CHEXA elements using an element size average of the other two existing meshes, and you are done!.
Best regards,
Blas.
