Parts list question

Parts list question

Parts list question

(OP)
From the previous thread

to give an appropriate title to the thread I will continue here.

After watching the video of PhoenNX PLM, I became aware that we have much to learn.

All my "Seed Parts" have an attribute called "Code" and I set in all seed parts
Code = <W$=@$PART_NAME>

In parts list I have a column for the attribute "Code" but when I update parts list the column Code remain empty.

I done this because generally the code and the part name are the same.
Sometimes however, the Code is only part of the part name and some other the Code is completely different from the part name.

RE: Parts list question

Maybe it's the "units" of the cell.
Highlight the column and rmc to Style, in one of the tabs you are able to change it to either text, money, decimal inches, and things like that; make sure you have it set to what best works for you.

Although it seems to me that none of those voices is applicable to my case, I tried all of them.
I also tested each of them with the option "Evaluate cell as formula".

In any situation, the column remains empty.
With the option "Evaluate cell formula as" the column presents on each row the Dash

RE: Parts list question

Well I understand that cannot be done directly in parts list (Code column = <W$=@$PART_NAME>)

Can I automatically get this information in expression? Then NX9 can fill attributes from expression. (No sure about NX7.5)

Thank you

RE: Parts list question

Yes, you can create a String Expression set equal to ug_askCurrentWorkPart() which will give you what you want. Note however that this expression will not automatically update but will require at least one manual update for every change in the Part file name.

RE: Parts list question

http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=374286 is a thread about this exact question.
I put a video in my post that shows how it can be done.
