WCS problem on NX
WCS problem on NX
(OP)
Hello everybody,
i use nx 9,
i have very big problem since i start using NX, sometimes i have to work on angled datums. And i have this. This is very big problem for diameter parts on drafting.

i can add a wcs like i want as you see on photo, but i can not use it on drafting etc,..

How can i solve it?

RE: WCS problem on NX
Are you trying to do drafting in the model space ?

It will never align with your modified WCS.
To do what you want, I made a video to show, see attached.

Now i found a way to do it over solidworks :/
i export the file as parasolid.
i open it by solidworks, add a wcs , save as(by new coordinate axis). Then i import it to NX again.
For NX there must be something, i don't want to believe it's not exist.
RE: WCS problem on NX
There is only 1 WCS in an NX part file, it's your "mobile" co-ordinate system, like a 3D ruler. It is NOT a feature, and can't be copied into multiple positions.
But, once you've positioned the WCS, you can use it to create other things e.g.
- a datum co-ordinate system, which is a feature in the part navigator
- a saved custom view (view - set to WCS, then view - save-as) which is useful for drafting
and so on.
Hope that helps, Carl

Format -> WCS -> Save
This copy of the WCS will show-up when you create your Drawing(s) while the one that's shown in Red/Blue/Green will not. Remember, if you're working in the Master Model mode you'll need to make sure that the copied WCS is included in your 'Model' Reference Set.

RE: WCS problem on NX
I have a feeling there is a better way to do it.
RE: WCS problem on NX
it was on an angled datum. Then the design changed and i put the parts to an another assembly.
Even when i export the file as a parasolid or stp file. it goes like this. Solidworks, inventor etc. open the file in this wcs.
Then in solidworks i can put a new wcs like i did in NX in video, i save the file as "with new wcs" . Everything becomes normal.
