Proceedure to sell a NX license?

Proceedure to sell a NX license?

Proceedure to sell a NX license?

(OP)
I have a NX 4100 license that I am considering selling as I am about to retire. I'm not quite sure how I would even go about transferring it, but I need to decide before I renew the maintenance, assuming a buyer would want the maintenance. Has anyone had any experience selling or buying a seat?

I suppose I can simply speak to Siemens as to the procedure, but I would appreciate any previous experiences.

RE: Proceedure to sell a NX license?

NX is only licensed to the original purchaser and cannot be resold. The only exception is when the license is purchased by a company which is later sold and therefore the license is considered an asset of the company and then it can be transferred to the new company. However, individual licenses cannot be resold. You can check with your Siemens representative but I think you will find that this is the case.

Thanks John, I guess I will have to throw my company in as part of the deal! Good to know.

Wait a minute.....now, if corporations are people, and people are people, and corporations can sell licenses....................people can't sell licences?

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

RE: Proceedure to sell a NX license?

Corporations are not people. They are comprised of people that make it a standalone legal entity.
Selling a company and its assets will allow a license of software to be transferred.
A direct sale of that license, either by a person or company is not allowed.
I have 10 licenses that are off maintenace because we don't need them right now, but we cannot sell them.

If you read the license agreement, it basically says you are leasing the software, only buying the right to use it. And the warranty in the license agreement is worth little more than the paper as it basically says the distribution media is free from defects, not the software itself.

Actually the licensing agreement provides the original buyer the right to use the software in perpetuity. However, the maintenance agreement, which requires the payment of regular fees, covers ongoing support which includes both GTAC 800-number phone support and any future maintenance and enhancement releases.

3eyes Looks like you can't retire, 4Peaksaz, you have "to use the software in perpetuity"...
