PSV installed upside down
PSV installed upside down
(OP)
We are in commissioning of a turbine drive air compressor and i found out that one of the lube oil pump discharge PSV was installed upside down. The compressor vendor said that it was ok for the PSV to be installed in this condition which is for me is not the appropriate way of installation. I have seen a lot of PSV installed in vertical position the way it was test and calibrate at shop.
Question: is there any code requirement for the proper PSV installation.
Thanks in advance you all your advices...

RE: PSV installed upside down
This avoids dirt and other items sitting on the valve face and causing lack of sealing after any lifting and also makes it easier to remove when in service for testing without having the process fluid leak all over you... AFAIK there is no "code" requirement, more common sense and practicality.
I assume this doesn't match any drawings submitted, so why can't the valve be reversed?
