Weldolet Vs threadolet
Weldolet Vs threadolet
(OP)
I need to understand when to use a weldolet connection vs threadolet on any pressure class piping ( ANSI 150, 600, 900, 1500).
So far I know that weldolets tend to have less stress concentrations than threadolets , but the question that's bugging me is why use threadolet if weldolets are so damn good.

you use a "weldolet" when you want to weld a pipe or fitting directly to the branch fitting and a "threadolet" when you want to screw the connecting pipe or fitting (e.g. valve) to the branch connection.
If you search here for welded vs threaded connection then you'll see a lot of different opinions on when one or the other is deemed a good idea, but generally your piping spec will tell you when you can use threaded connections (tends to be smaller bore, lower pressure)
