Building Out Undulations in Successive Pavement Layers

Building Out Undulations in Successive Pavement Layers

(OP)
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the rough percentage of an "undulation" is built out with succeeding layers - I had, somewhere, heard that succeeding layers build out about 1/2 of the underlying layer undulation. Had an experience where the first layer of two base courses was placed before monsoon, then traveled on for about 5 months. Scraped it off (but not scarified) and the next layer (150 mm) was placed, then chip seal. Ended up "feeling" the first base course layer undulations - not to the same degree as originally but a bit.

Your thoughts, information, would be appreciated . . .
