LBs for hazardous location between sealoffs

LBs for hazardous location between sealoffs

LBs for hazardous location between sealoffs

(OP)
Hey guys,
We just put in 2 new biogas blowers at our plant in a class 1 div 1 location. The electrical manager here used just nema 4 LBs and says its OK since it is between the sealoff at the motor and the sealoff at the disconnect. There are not wire connections in the LB. I am not much of an electric person but I do notice all the other LBs in the area are explosion proof. Can anyone tell me if we are good with the nema 4 in this case?

RE: LBs for hazardous location between sealoffs

From Section 501.10(A)(3) Boxes and Fittings. All boxes and fittings shall be approved for Class I, Division 1.

A fitting (LB) that is only identified as Type 4 is not sufficient for Division 1.
