Footing Stresses

Footing Stresses

Footing Stresses

(OP)

Hello all,
Please, how can we determine the bearing stress of a footing in etabs and comparing it with allowable bearing pressure. Does anyone has this experience in ETABS?

RE: Footing Stresses

Although I'm unfamiliar with etabs. Could you not just provide a pinned or fixed boundary at the base of your structure (top of your footing) and then check the footing by hand?

If there is no overturning moment on the footing then the pressure would just be P/A. If there is overturning moment causing an eccentricity less than b/6 then you can make it work with an equivalent bearing pressure.
