File opening message

(OP)
I'm an amateur SE user, having used the various versions for about 6 years.
Recently, when trying to open a SE file, I receive a dialog window containing the text "Cannot open this file. No translator is available for this file type."
The files in question are of SE ST4 origin.
Does anyone have any idea what has happened to the files to cause this message, and any suggestions for recovery please?

RE: File opening message

(OP)
The files were created in ST4, only a few months ago.....
And its not the 'student' version!
Thanks for the prompt replies, much appreciated.
Mike

RE: File opening message

You have the wrong maintenance pack installed!

This was a typical error we received, and I don't know why a MP acts like a different version, but it has been the past few SE ST releases. Update to the latest ST4 maintenance pack and you should be fine.
