Problems on Material Requirements for HB,HIC,SOHIC Damage in Wet H2S Service

Hi All,
Is there any codes or standards that cover Material Requirements for HB,HIC,SOHIC Damage in Wet H2S Service. SSC is covered by NACE MR 0175 and MR 0103,respectively for petroleum and natrural gas industries and refining. What is the details about the Material Requirements for HB,HIC,SOHIC Damage in Wet H2S Service.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Problems on Material Requirements for HB,HIC,SOHIC Damage in Wet H2S Service

ISO 15156 Petroleum and natural gas industries -- Materials for use in H2S-containing environments in oil and gas production -- Part 1: General principles for selection of cracking-resistant materials

states:

Quote:

This part of ISO 15156 addresses all mechanisms of cracking that can be caused by H2S, including sulfide stress cracking, stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen-induced cracking and stepwise cracking, stress-oriented hydrogen-induced cracking, soft zone cracking and galvanically induced hydrogen stress cracking.

For HIC and SOHIC : NACE TM0284

Thanks for all of your help. Then I have another question:Is ISO 15156 appropriate for refinery service? NACE TM0284 is just a specification for testing method. My point is material requirements. THX.

In most of these cases you, then end user are responsible for setting the actual criteria.
Many of these documents will give you guidance on general limits.
But there are decisions that you need to make along the way.

First take a look at NACE MR0175/ISO15156 Part 2 Clause 8. If HIC/SWC is a concern after reading this, then it will direct you to Annex B Clause B.5 and Table B.3 to test for susceptibility using the already mentioned TM0284. You'll notice that is directs you to "consider" this and that. This would be what EdStainless is talking about.
