Masonry Grout Specification
Masonry Grout Specification
(OP)
I'm trying to figure out which ASTM testing method to use for grout of reinforced masonry. Any help?

RE: Masonry Grout Specification
1)It should have a slump between 8" and 11" to allow complete filling of the voids and ability to completely and uniformly bond to the reinforcement. If you have the rights slump the excess water sill be absorbed by the concrete masonry units.
2) The grouting procedures must be followed to allow to allow lifts to consolidate from absorption and mechanical consolidation. It is important to wait and top off the grout after it has had a chance to consolidate.
Strength is rarely a question because it is really not critical and many engineers place a maximum strength allowed in order to maintain compatibility with the concrete masonry for performance purposed. Field testing is just creating a grout sample for masonry units separated from the grout itself by a permeable material to simulate the actual construction/use conditions.
