ASME VIII Div 1 Pressure Vessel (UV Relief Valve Stamp Issue)

ASME VIII Div 1 Pressure Vessel (UV Relief Valve Stamp Issue)

ASME VIII Div 1 Pressure Vessel (UV Relief Valve Stamp Issue)

(OP)
Hello,

I was wondering if any would be able to assist with the following.

The organisation I work for has been asked to design a pressure vessel suitable for carrying various acid in accordance with ASME VIII Div 1. The pressure vessel it self does not pose an issue, but unfortunately obtaining a UV stamped valve which would be suitable for the design can not be found. The valve type is a spring relief valve working to both a positive and negative pressure.

I have gone through UG125 - UG138 trying to find an exemption or something along lines which would allow us to use a non UV stamped valve.

If any one could offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: ASME VIII Div 1 Pressure Vessel (UV Relief Valve Stamp Issue)

Ran into this a couple of years ago, and we ended up with two PRVs. An ASME one for pressure, and an API [non-stamped] one for vacuum. We couldn't find a VR-rated vacuum valve either.
