IEC 60079-1 EX'd' enclosures - Breathing and Draining requirements

IEC 60079-1 EX'd' enclosures - Breathing and Draining requirements

IEC 60079-1 EX'd' enclosures - Breathing and Draining requirements

(OP)
We have been asked by the client to check the volume of the enclosure for one of the oxygen analyser transmitter enclosure and one of the pump stroke controller to be less than 2.5 Litres. We also need to confirm them whether it complies with the Clause 10.9.3 (e)where vendor has used small cable adapters to faciliate cable take off from this Exd enclosure. The adapters are also certified for Ex d.

What i understand from the above IEC is that , compliance to this clause will decide whether a breathing or Draining provision is required if it is more than 2.5 litres and if so the test procedures for ATEX certification will be different.

Is this breathing or draining facilty requirement is only for the enclosures that use the Liquid to operate ( Electrohydraulic devices ) or operates on a liquid ( chromotograph) ? or applicable for all the enclosures as said in my first line...

Thanks to clarify.
