GASKET

GASKET

(OP)
Good day, I have a question:
place two Garlock gaskets can improve sealing.
Helpme please

JATE

RE: GASKET

Garlock sells, what, a thousand types of gasket material?
... and their products go into, what, a million other products?

I admit it; I have doubled up on gaskets or o-rings, in middle of the night type situations, with modest success.
... but in general, it's not a real good idea. For one thing, the doubled thickness may mess up an assembly stackup so that you stop the leak, but some other part doesn't work right.

RE: GASKET

Ditto to what Mike says, plus, the additional packing is not constrained as well as it seal against itself, and may lead to an even more catastrophic leak (read 'blow out').

RE: GASKET

For reasons already listed, do not double stack gaskets. Do not reuse gasket.
People always look for shortcuts with gaskets and they lead to some of the more severe accidents.
