planes wont show shaded in solidworks

planes wont show shaded in solidworks

planes wont show shaded in solidworks

(OP)
I am using Solidworks 15 but I have had the same problem since at least SW 11.

I cannot get planes to show up any way other than basic outline.

I have checked every checkbox I can find to display planes, shade planes, pick front and back colors etc..

I am using a nvidea Quatro 4000 so I am sure grapics power is not the issue.

Any ideas?

Actually, I found the answer in a SW 2003 post on this site myself.

Very simple solution. I did not have planes checked under the 'view' dropdown.

I had searched earlier but did not go back far enough.

Thanks anyway.

RE: planes wont show shaded in solidworks

The best way to remember things like this is there are global and individual settings for nearly everything in Solidworks. Global is just that, its global it will be set across the board no matter if you turn it on\off individually. However if you turn the global option on\off globally then it allows you to set individual items on\off as needed.

Knowing that tid bit has helped me for years when it comes to settings and items you want to see or don't want to see. I personally hate having my planes on. I only turn them on when I use them and hide them when I am not. IMO it makes it mush easier to view the actual model not just a bunch of planes on the screen.

Hope that helps you when run into problems like this again.
