UGNX 9.0 assembly translucency issues

UGNX 9.0 assembly translucency issues

(OP)
Hi.

I have noticed a problem when switching from NX8.0 to NX9.0. I work with assemblies quite often and found that I am unaware to make my work part transparent in order to use other components as reference. It seems that the external faces of the work part cannot be made transparent. I have never had this issue before when using 8.0. Has anyone noticed this?

I created an image showing 8.0 on the left side and 9.0 on the right side.

RE: UGNX 9.0 assembly translucency issues

Exactly how did you in NX8 and how do you in NX9 apply this translucency ?
It's difficult to respond since there are multiple options to apply translucency.
"See thru layers" ? - In both NX8 and NX9 ?

Tomas

When using 8.0, I typically made a part translucent by using the "edit object display" icon. I have never and any issues at all. However, since I moved to 9.0 I am unable to get this to work like it has in the past.

I have tried to toggle the "see-thru all" icon, but this does not help. I'm wondering if there is something in the customer defaults that is different between the two versions of UG.

RE: UGNX 9.0 assembly translucency issues

When you use the "edit object display" command, be sure to toggle on the "apply to all faces" option. There is an option in the customer defaults to set the default state of this option.

Problem solved. The "see-thru de-emphasized objects" button was toggle. I never had to mess with it before this release.

thanks!

Have you checked...

Menu -> Preferences -> Visualization Performance -> General Grpahics

...to see if the 'Disable Translucency' option is toggled ON?
