Allowances for Pressure and Temperature B31.3

Allowances for Pressure and Temperature B31.3

according to para 302.2.4 in ASME B31.3, is it allowed to exceed the max. use temperature listed in table A1-M for a spicific material?

RE: Allowances for Pressure and Temperature B31.3

The meaning of Para 302.2.4 is that the actual temperature is allowed to exceed the design temperature used by the levels quoted. It has nothing to do with Table A1-M.

RE: Allowances for Pressure and Temperature B31.3

Para. 302.2.4 is about use of materials above a temperature or pressure to which any item is designed(/'rated')
Para. 323.2.1 allows materials to be used above temperatures that are listed in table A-1 (or A-1M) in the "Max. Use Temp., °C" column.

Please be aware of the difference between these 2 paragraphs.

well, thank you first for the reply, and here is my story:
a piece of pipe to be constructed of SB-575 (UNS-N06200).
Max Operating Temp. is 932 DEG F
Designe Pressure is 2.2 PSIG
if i want to go with Para 323.2.1 to exceed tha Max use temp. listed in table A1-M (800 DEG F)i should first confirm that there is no prohibition in Appendix A.
My question is how to confirm if there is no prohibition in Appendix A?

RE: Allowances for Pressure and Temperature B31.3

Review para. 323.2.1
