Ground Fault Setting
Ground Fault Setting
(OP)
In any electrical code, is their a limit that the setting of a ground fault protector to be maximum say t(s)= 1.0 and I(g)= 1.0 . Is their any calculation? The breaker rating is 150A.
see attached. Our inspection is asking a setting calculation.

RE: Ground Fault Setting
Common sense and good practice dictate that in an impedance grounded system your setting must be lower than the calculated ground current.

RE: Ground Fault Setting
The ground fault settings have no effect on arc flash calculations as arc flash calculations are considered 3 phase. The exception to that is in utility type situations (overhead lines) where the arc flash is predominately single phase, open air type faults.
