Welding hydraulic jack extension screw
Welding hydraulic jack extension screw
(OP)
Hi.
I have come up with a solution that requires welding a metal arm to the extension screw of a bottle hydraulic jack. I was wondering what type of steel it is generally made of and if it is possible to weld it. It has to hold strong though.
Thanks in advance :)

Make a nut of known material and attach your arm to that.

Among my questions is, arm out the side (cantilever load, tending to tip over the jack) or an extension of the "extension screw", which to my ear would not be an arm .

All this being said, can you use a vise grip plier, and weld a control rod toit instead? That way, you are only ruining a $10 tool instead of the whole jack.
It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.
