Wide Flange Reinforcement

Wide Flange Reinforcement

Wide Flange Reinforcement

(OP)
Is anyone familiar with CSA S16-09 Cl.13.6 e) which is for monosymmetric bending? I am trying to check a wide flange beam reinforced with a WT on the underside. The monosymmetric parameter, Bx, does not seem to work for this case and gives me moment resistance values less than the unreinforced beam. If I can't get it to work I will just go back to the old method. Thanks!

RE: Wide Flange Reinforcement

That clause is for monosymmetric I-sections. If you weld a T to a wide flange you get a three flanged section. You can make some conservative assumptions to make your section fit this or approach the problem another way
