Post forming heat treatment according to Russian codes

Post forming heat treatment according to Russian codes

Post forming heat treatment according to Russian codes

(OP)
Hi everybody
I would to ask you the following issue:

I have to manufacture some pressure vessels for Russian project.
The material is SA 516 gr 70N
ID 677mm
thk 17mm
the applicable code is ASME VIII div 1 + russian codes

The Client is asking a Post Forming Heat Treatment because, he say, for Russian codes the vessels manufactured by plate rolling according to point 4.4.4 of PB 03-576-03 have to be heat treated

Can I have your opinion ?

Bye

RE: Post forming heat treatment according to Russian codes

Thermal treatment may also be required by ASME Section VIII, Div 1 based on fiber elongation after forming (rolling). Is the client using both codes for fabrication? If so, this is rather odd, and if the client is requesting it per the Russian code, so be it.

RE: Post forming heat treatment according to Russian codes

(OP)
Accordimg Asme thermaltreatment isn't necessary. Fiber elongationis less than 5%. They indicate Russian code due to forming method, but the translation is not reliable
