8" mild steel reinforced Hollowcore load tables
8" mild steel reinforced Hollowcore load tables
(OP)
I am looking to add new mechanical units on an existing un-topped 8" mild steel reinforced hollowcore system.
8" deep X 24" wide members with #4 in the bottom- 4 per section.
Does anyone have some load tables for a product like this?
Thanks

If you can see the configuration of the cores and shape that would be a big help to determine the type of hollow core planks.
If the cores are perfectly round and smooth inside, I could be a Flexicore system or a copy. This system uses round rubber inflated to tubes and a more normal concrete is used. Normally, stressed wires are used, but rebar could be used because the beds are much shorter than the systems using wire and an extruded low slump concrete that have a rougher and irregular core void. The Flexicore was available in a 16"width some time ago, but 24"is by far the normal width. - The span must be quite short.
I hope that gives you a clue.

Reference attached below to get ballpark figures.
Not sure the exact section you mentioned is present in there though.

Unfortunately, it refers to prestressed planks made in 300' to 500' long beds that used stranded wire which are similar to the planks made in the last 30 years.
This post refers to mild steel (#4 bars). The reference to prestessed is just an assumption. This is why I suggested looking for a wet cast(not low slump) manufacturer that is local to the project. If there is a need, planks can be shipped long distances. I have seen Flexicore shipped 900 miles for projects that required the smooth flat bottom a fixed form provides in comparison to the extruded type (narrow triangular cores) that have a camber and deflection after cutting to length.
I will try to contact a friend that was responsible for and made Flexicore products(16" and 24" wide) for about 25 years. He might have some information for you if I can get him off the golf course. This particular product is made in much shorter lengths (up to 60' max) that can be cut shorter. I cannot visualize mild #4 steel for manufacture on the long beds (up to 1000'for prestressed). - If sounds like a knock-off of Flexicore with short beds using mild steel.

BA- Just for simplicity and time savings. We are just seeing if new mechanical units can sit on top of these existing members. A load table would be much quicker than running a calc like this by hand. If no load tables can be found- the hand calc will be the route I take.
I appreciate the responses
