Small, powerful linear actuator with short stroke

Small, powerful linear actuator with short stroke

(OP)
I am looking for a linear actuator that has a short stroke (1 to 2 inches) and can put out around 500 lbs. Ideally it would be a discrete 2 position device but not necessary. Non-hydraulic and no squibs. I've looked at screw type actuators but they are mostly unnecessarily long for what I need, and most small solenoid actuators I've seen don't seem to go beyond 50 - 100lbs. Any suggestions?

www.fabco-air.com has some spiffy high-force compact pneumatic cylinders.

ITT - Control Technologies makes extremely high quality custom cylinders if you must have super high reliability and a one-off design....for a price of course.

Otherwise look at ACE, or any of the above manufacturers

Order a custom length shaft of ball-screw actuator.
Motion Systems does this routinely.
