Possible EMI protection?

Possible EMI protection?

Possible EMI protection?

(OP)
I need some help...

I have a battery system which provide up to 1000 Amp continuous current to supply the 3-phase AC drive motors and other electronic devices on one of our application. These electronic devices may be sensitive to noise. The AC motor drive system is powered by a DC/AC motor controller.

Should I be worry for EMI or EMP or anything of that?

Any help is appreciated!!

forgot...the battery are 48 volts system.

RE: Possible EMI protection?

It's good design practice to include all the basic EMI mitigation strategies, such as keeping the loop areas small and perhaps twisting wires together, as these are essentially free. In other words, Why not? (Of course, keep your wits about you.)

Going beyond that, into strategies that cost money such as shielding, it depends on the requirements.

RE: Possible EMI protection?

In general, there is some expectation that the electronics are designed to withstand some amount of EMI, otherwise, that EE ought to get another job. That said, proper design on your part will ensure that everyone is electromagnetically compatible, so good grounding and shielding are prerequisites to that.

what shielding can I get? I saw some shielding-tape online, are they any good?

RE: Possible EMI protection?

Shielding tapes are generally used for stopping high frequency emissions of about 50 MHz up to mid GHz by sealing metal enclosure seams, gaps, holes, and joints. Most likely any issue you have will not be in these frequency ranges.
