Q

what is the best / correct method for loop testing ac motor circuits.
ie I need to test some motors fed from an mcc control cabinet
Ive had several suggestions sutch as link the contactor out disconnect at motor terminals & test back to panel
another college says you must test with the contactor energized not linked out.   so I don,t know then theres  the added problem of some are fed from inverters & I don,t think they would take kindly to a loop test
suggestions please.

RE: earth looptesting industrial motors

Suggestion: Depending on the complexity, one may need assistance from the product tech support. Else, testing should be as much diversified as to test all significant phenomena. However, one should make certain by a selection of correct test set-ups and ranges of variables and parameters that everything they are tested properly and exhaustively.
