Multiple String Forging?

Multiple String Forging?

Multiple String Forging?

(OP)
There's some debate on what exactly is a multiple string forging.

RE: Multiple String Forging?

Really?

you must get smarter than the software you're using.

Yep, Really....

RE: Multiple String Forging?

Where?

RE: Multiple String Forging?

It’s bad enough that they have been forging money, checks, documents, etc., but now they are forging string too? What’s this world coming to?
Homer75... you may want to define your question or problem a little better if you want meaningful answers and discussion.

RE: Multiple String Forging?

We have forged choke bodies and NDE testing is only required on multiple string body forgings. No one is 100% on what exactly a multiple string body forging is. I hope this clears up the question.

RE: Multiple String Forging?

Stating the question, might clear up the question.

RE: Multiple String Forging?

I'd say far less than 100%. Probably more like 0%.

you must get smarter than the software you're using.

RE: Multiple String Forging?

To not answer the original poster question even further, if you forge a string, does it get lumpier, or flatter? 8<)

RE: Multiple String Forging?

What document made reference to the term? Given that even Google has no clue, there is likely to be some other context this makes sense in. The closest I found was string-furnace, which was last practiced (maybe) in the 1770s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3AFinery_forge

RE: Multiple String Forging?

Why not ask the guys who make the forged choke bodies?

RE: Multiple String Forging?

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed when you ask one of your suppliers a reasonably intelligent question about something which is kinda peculiar to their specialty, and a spec. or std. that they deal with every day. The only really dumb question is the question not asked, which gets you in trouble, for your bashfulness. Talk to their engineering dept., not to a sales rep. who’ll just b.s. you. We aren’t all expected to know everything about everything. They are there to serve you, if they want to keep selling to you. I’m always amazed, these days, that the internet, google, E-Tips is the go-to source for everything, doesn’t your phone work any more?

RE: Multiple String Forging?

Could be an unhelpful translation. How about 'string'='line'? I.e., if lumps of metal are arriving from multiple lines (sources) to one forge.

But we can keep on coming up with string theories...

RE: Multiple String Forging?
