Is there an easy fast way to turn an unparameterized hole in a parasolid into a slot? NX 8.5

NX 8.5 This sounds like it should be easy... I received a parasolid model for review and I can easily edit an existing slot using Synchronous. I can't seem to find anything in synchronous for hole to slot. I know I can add a slot using insert slot. Or I could use sketcher. Am I missing something in Synchronous? Thanks.

I doubt it, because a hole has one face, but a slot has 4 faces so from an unparametric point of view, they're quite different.

That is what I found out. I split the face and got two faces... still no joy. They move together.

Ahhh,it can be done if you continue down this path and use:

Settings > Step Face > Extend Neighbours at Smooth Edge

which will introduce the two planar faces you need.

Still think your extrude idea is easier though!

To show you what the workflow described by carlharr would look like, please review the video attached below, which was created using NX 8.5.

Holy Toledo! I wasn't checking those settings.... DOH! Thanks again, Mr Baker, for helping NX save the world from oppression. Is there a link to the repository of videos for review?

And a special thanks goes to Carlharr for making this all possible.

I just created that one on-the-fly. Generally I don't post them on YouTube but have a couple of times. However, Siemens PLM is starting to post a fair amount of stuff on YouTube including what we're calling 'NX Quick Tips', which you can see here:

If you'd like to see the stuff that I've personally posted on YouTube, go to:

No problem JT1, you're welcome.

And if you'd like to see the stuff I've posted on YouTube...

No we'd best not!
