lightweight rep drawing displaying with lots of unwanted geometery

lightweight rep drawing displaying with lots of unwanted geometery

(OP)
Hi

We are trying to create a drawing of quite a large assembly and to speed up regeneration/update times, we are trying to use lightweight representations but as you can see by the attached picture, there is lots of unwanted "noise" on the view. I have tried altering all thew settings for hidden lines and silhouette etc, etc, but without much success. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks

Si smile

RE: lightweight rep drawing displaying with lots of unwanted geometery

Hi Simon, Have you tried using layers? Move all unwanted geometry to layers and do not make them visible in that particular view.

That's not the point really Rahul, I want to know why it's happened and how to fix it, rather than just hiding the using layers which would be a nightmare to do on so many small lines etc, but thanks anyway.

If you're making a Drawing using 'lightweight representations' then I guess you're using NX 8.5, correct?

If so, have all the parts in the Assembly, including Family Table parts, been run through 'refile' so that all of their lightweight representations are fully up-to-date?

Hi John

There my be the odd component that predates NX7.5, but the vast majority will be NX7.5 on-wards. When I created the view, I made sure that I chose lightweight rather than smart lightweight, as we have only been on NX8.5 for the kast couple of months and there won't be many parts with SLW's yet.

If you run refile and set the update options to get the newest Lightweight Representations, then you should be able to use the new NX 8.5 Smart Lightweight Drawing views which may give you better results.

Hmmm? I'd love to John, but we have a beast of a multi-site set-up where out parts are replicated all round the word and where the ownership of part could be anywhere, so the we decided to hold of on re-file until we complete our 4-tier project and then do it when we have 1 copy of each part on 1 server.

Thanks for the help though.
